Furry Freight relies on a team of amazing volunteers to keep our programs moving. No matter your skills or schedule, there is something here for you.
Every animal saved, every transport completed, every surgery funded happens because people in our community decide to give their time. Whether you drive across state lines or clean crates between trips, every role is essential.
Where do you fit?
Every role below is open year-round. Some involve a few extra onboarding steps — we'll walk you through everything.
Transport Driver
Our most critical need. Drivers take multi-day road trips moving animals from overcrowded shelters to our Pacific Northwest partners. Trips typically run 1-2 days, and involve driving long hours, including at night. You will be paired with another volunteer and provided with everything you need — vehicle, fuel, lodging, and transport supplies are covered.
Drivers have a brief introductory call before their first trip.
Transport Cleanup & Sanitation
Crate and Transport Van cleaning and sanitization after animals arrive. A vital part of keeping every transport safe and smooth.
Thrift Store Volunteer
Our new thrift store in Bend runs on the heart and hustle of volunteers. Roles include sorting and receiving donations, researching item values, cleaning and testing items, stocking the sales floor, keeping the store organized, and assisting customers.
Events Volunteer
Help at our fundraising events — Yard Sales, Baking for our Holiday Treat Sales, Egg My House, and Bingo Nights. Tasks include setup, promotion, ticket sales, logistics, and cleanup. No prior event experience needed, just energy and enthusiasm. Great for one-time or recurring involvement.
Social Media Volunteer
Help us tell the stories of the animals we save and the volunteers who make it happen. Create content for Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok — photos, reels, captions, and more. A great remote role — you can contribute from anywhere. If you love animals and spend time on social media, this one was made for you.
